The P.G. Department of Computer Science & Technology established in the year 1995-1996 with the permission given by AICTE New Delhi for starting MCA programme. This Department is attached to the Degree College of Physical Education, which is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) and 12B and is accredited by NAAC with ‘B’ grade. The UGC granted autonomous status to this college from 2007, this is the only college of its kind having this status in the whole Country.

The College is ranked at 36th prestigious position in the country in the category of multifaculty colleges by NIRF New Delhi. The college is well known in the field of sports & physical education in the country. It is managed by Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, which has a living history of 103 years.

Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, Amravati is a voluntary organization established in the year 1914. It was the active center of freedom fighters during the freedom movement of India. The contribution of this Institution in freedom movement of India is remarkable. Martyr Rajguru was a student of this Institution. The national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash chandra Bose, Motilal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai & many others visited this Institution.

P.G.Department of computer science and technology is established in the year 1995 with inception of MCA program with initial intake 30. This is the first institution of MCA in Vidharbha region. In the year 2000 intake of MCA was increased to 60 with the permission of AICTE and then with the introduction of second shift the intake is increased to 120. From the beginning institution marked for its academic excellence in MCA. The department is taking a lot of efforts for academic excellence, training and placements of the students. The placement of this department is above 60% every year. Department provides need based advanced training program, soft skill courses, expert’s lecturers etc. to prepare students for employment in IT industry. The alumni network always support institution and students to shape the training and placement activity. UGC has bestowed autonomous status to Degree College of Physical Education under which this department is functioning. The autonomous status of the professional course like MCA is really a “Feather in the cap”.

The curriculum of MCA offered by this department is designed with the help of industry experts and academicians in this region.

The academic environment, sports infrastructure, disciplined campus, experienced faculty, advanced facilities for training, best library facility and students high priority preference for admission has made this department as leading, prospective and preferred institute of MCA in the central part of India. The Laboratory of the department is recognized for the purpose of research in the field of computer applications by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati from the year 2002. This is the only research center in the subject of Computer Application in this University.

The Mandal is recipient of following awards:

1. The Mandal is the recipient of prestigious "Aadivasi Seva Sanstha Puraskar - 1997" of Maharashtra Government for its work in tribal regions.
2. The "State Government Award -2002" for Educational institutions. The work of the Mandal
has been appreciated by many organizations and received honors in the form of awards and certificates from time to time.
3. Mandal is also the recipient of “Paryavaran Puraskar 2014” on 23 March 2015 bestowed by Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati.

Mandal is associated with many international organisations including UNESCO, Paris. The Mandal organized many visits and tours in India & abroad to demonstrate the Indian sports & culture. After independence Mandal diverted its activities to Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga, Naturopathy and Engineering and Technology. It is pioneer to start M.C.A. programme first time in vidarbha region to cater such a high degree of the technical education programme to the students of this region.
